Art Printing Trip (March-2013)

As part of the JCSP Schools Programme, St. Mary's had an Artist in Residence in our school for 8 weeks.

Alwyn Gillespie is a fine print and watercolour artist. Alwyn worked with our girls on a number of different projects. One of the most interesting was a print technique she introduced us to called "Carborundum" - this is a technique of printing using Perspex.

We visited the Leinster print Studio in Clane with Alwyn and the girls were able to print their designs on the many fine old printing presses there.

We really enjoyed our day out. We lunched in Mc Donalds in Maynooth on the way home.

The prints will be exhibited in the Annual Variety Club Art exhibition in the school in March.
